Multi engine Instrument Rating

An instrument rating provides a pilot the ability to navigate through clouds and other
weather to eventually land safety at an airport using only instruments.


Maybe your dream is to fly for a major airline. A multi-IFR rating is a key step in
progressing to type ratings on larger airplanes.


You will receive approximately 20 hours of multi-engine instrument instruction in
Flight 6ix Piper Seneca aircraft. The amount of actual instrument will vary depending
on your ability and level of previous training experience

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum Age of 17 years
  • Valid Private Pilot License or Commercial Pilot’s Licence
  • Valid Category 1 or 3 Medical Certificate

Training Requirements:

To receive a Group 1 or Group 3 Instrument Rating you must have :

  • 20 Hours on Redbird FMX simulator that has approach data for all major
    airports in Canada.
  • 20 Hours instruction in aircraft
  • A dual cross-country of at least 100 nautical miles
  • 50 hours of cross‐country flight time as pilot‐in‐command in aeroplanes
  • A Transport Canada Written and Flight Test (INRAT) must be completed.
